88: Multiplying Leaders to Multiply Movements – Interview with Daniel

LISTEN TO THE EPISODE ABOVE

Summary:

Many new movements are catalyzed out of existing movements.  It is critical that we not only multiply disciples, but multiply leaders! On this episode, Cynthia speaks with Daniel from West Africa about how he trains and releases leaders, trusting the Holy Spirit to help them go and grow.

Key Points From This Episode:

  • When Daniel first started focusing on the lost and unreached rather than existing Christians things slowed down a bit at first, but later grew much more rapidly
  • In the midst of intense persecution, their team and the believers are becoming stronger and more bold.
  • Mark 16 tells of how not everyone believed Jesus’ words, but in the midst of this, he sent them out.  He didn’t wait to train them more, he sent them.
  • Daniel says “I don’t need to wait until people know everything. The Holy Spirit is at work in them.”
  • If we want to see results, we need to do what Jesus did!
  • Make it a practice to immediately train your team in the new things you are learning. Pass on your understanding to them.
  • The Gospel has to go beyond me.  Then it is the gospel (the good news).
  • As we look at creation we see that everything God created multiplied; the fish, the birds, the grasses, everything! So we too must multiply ourselves and multiply (not add) leaders.
  • You can pray without going, but you can not go without praying.
  • What kind of missionary would I be if I don’t share the gospel every day?
  • Keep going. Keep learning. Sow abundantly. Invest in new believers. Train them to go and release them.
  • Be a leader among them, not a leader above them.
