Summary:
Ever feel like your task list is a mile long? Or like His yoke is anything but easy? On the podcast today Cynthia shares about how to do a Start/Stop exercise and allow God to prune away the things that aren’t leading to fruit.
Key Points From This Episode:
- A Start/Stop exercise can help us get back on track and remove the clutter of many activities that are not the right ones in our lives.
- Take out a piece of paper and make two columns; one that says start and one that says stop on it.
- Sometimes you can add a third column for pause or delegate.
- Consider all your varied activities and ask God to show you what you need to stop to make room for the new things He wants to speak to you about.
- Activities are a bit like clutter in our homes. Without realizing it we attain many commitments and get involved in far too much.
- The book Necessary Endings by Henry Cloud talks about sunk costs. This is the concept that when we invest a lot, it is harder to let go of certain things.
-“For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven” Ecclesiastes 3:1
-“Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” John 5:19 - Not everything we do is still in season. Ask yourself, is this still the season for this?
- May God be glorified in our pruning. And may it make us even more fruitful in the new year.
