84: How to Equip Your Church to Disciple the Nations

LISTEN TO THE EPISODE ABOVE

Summary:

In this week’s podcast, Cynthia talks about what it takes to mobilize your church toward a heart for the nations and into active engagement with them.

Key Points From This Episode:

  • Vision cast for lostness and a broken heart for the needs of those around you who don’t know God.
  • Share personal stories of engaging with other cultures, praying for them, inviting them into conversations, prayer and discovery.
  • Make cross-cultural evangelism fun and exciting.
  • Train in skills not only knowledge. Take them out and model how to engage with people of other faiths and cultures.
  • Interview people from your local community who are from other cultures, then lead your congregation in prayer for them.
  • Train church members to make disciples in their own culture first, start groups with new believers.  That will make it easier for them then to use this to disciple the nations around them.
  • Welcome the stranger and the sojourner. Preach against the anti-immigrant rhetoric that has been popularized. Study what the Word of God says about the stranger and the sojourner and our responsibility to be compassionate, kind and loving toward them.
  • Study or teach on Matthew 25.
  • A willingness to go and disciple the nations starts with having a heart of love toward those who are different from ourselves.

Action step:
Engage with someone from a different culture or religion this week.  Ask some curious questions and listen well.
